A pair of reports state that Apple is on track to launch a feature codenamed ‘Confetti’ as early as this week that will revamp the event/meeting invite process on iOS.

The Bloomberg report speculates that the new invite process may involve a new app or be built into the existing calendar application. The report says it’s tied to iOS 18.3, so once people have the update that rolled out last week, their devices are prepped for the new service.

9to5Mac discovered beta code related to the new service in iOS 18.3 beta 3 earlier this year. From what the publication can gather, it might even get a standalone app on iCloud.com, suggesting that’s how non-Apple users might access the feature. The new app is also slated to work with a new iOS toolkit called GroupKit, which has been present since iOS 18, but no apps have used it.

As far as the reports have learned, the app, or section of the calendar app, will allow users to create invites and send them to friends. I’d expect that if Apple is going this all out with a new app or feature, it will likely have a few more hidden functionalities. Perhaps it will also do more to take on Facebook when it comes to events.
