The Canadian Game Awards have returned.
On Saturday, February 15th at 8pm, the Canadian gaming industry’s latest awards show will be held at Toronto’s TIFF Lightbox. Organized by former Canadian esports organizer Carl-Edwin Michel and hosted by Canadians Naomi Kyle (iHeartRadio’s This Week in Gaming) and Matthew Rondina (Best Buy Canada), the Canadian Game Awards aims to honour the very best of Canada’s massive $5.1 billion gaming industry.
Both big and small developers are recognized, from giants like BioWare Edmonton (Dragon Age: The Veilguard) and Montreal’s Behaviour Interactive (Dead by Daylight) to such first-time indie studios as Vancouver’s Sunset Visitor (1000xResist), Toronto’s Hilltop (Lil’ Guardsman) and anonymous Canadian developer LocalThunk (Balatro). The full list of nominees can be found here.
Those interested in checking out the awards can buy $22.63 tickets to the in-person ceremony or watch for free from home on Twitch.
In addition to the awards show itself, the Canadian Game Awards is also putting on the ‘Eh! Game Expo,’ a free exhibit of games from 15 Canadian studios. This will take place ahead of the awards gala on February 15th at the TIFF Lightbox from 10am to 6pm. Some of the featured teams include:
Toronto’s Alientrap (Wytchwood)
Montreal’s Woodrunner Games (Croak)
Montreal’s Folklore Games (Spiral)
Vancouver’s Sunset Visitor (1000xResist)
Halifax’s Styrax Studios (Button Man)
The full list of participating studios can be found here.
