The duo appeared to clash over who was supposed to mark which Manchester United player before the situation quickly spiralled out of control.
Gana appeared to slap his teammate, Michael Keane, in the face, forcing centre referee Tony Harrington to show him a straight red card.

Fans were left confused about why he was sent off, yet he had attacked his own teammate.
However, according to section 12 of IFAB laws, violent conduct is frowned upon irrespective of who it is meted out on.
āViolent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made.āāIn addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible.āPremier League releases Gana Gueye statementThe Premier League also quickly released a statement clarifying why the Senegalese international had been sent off.

Despite the disjointed few minutes, Everton dug deep to help David Moyes claim his first win at Old Trafford as an away manager.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored a peach of a goal in the 29th minute, which was enough to secure maximum points.
Everton had Jordan Pickford to thank after the England international pulled off a series of brilliant saves to preserve their lead.
He particularly thwarted fantastic attempts from Joshua Zirkzee, Bruno Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo.
Man United turn on one playerAfterwards, Manchester United fans turned on one player following the defeat to Everton.
Joshua Zirkzee was given his first start by Ruben Amorim, but failed to inspire in the absence of Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha.
The Dutchman only had 35 touches, but the story would have been different had Pickford not saved one of his two shots on goal.
