Apple is once again spending money to advertise on Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) after pausing ads in 2023 and 2024.
Many companies stopped advertising on X after Musk bought it and stripped away a lot of the safety guidelines that Twitter used to operate under. Since then, things haven’t gotten significantly better on the site, but many advertisers have started to trickle back. It’s also worth noting that big tech leaders have seemed to reevaluate their relationships with X after Donald Trump was re-elected president.
MacRumors spotted the first Apple ad on February 12, when the tech giant was running a promotion for Safari’s privacy features and the hit TV show Severance. It was reported in late January of 2025 that Apple was considering testing advertising on X again, so it’s unclear if these are part of the test or signal a full return.
This year, we’re expecting a new entry-level iPhone and iPad in the spring, alongside a rumoured smart home device. The M4 Macbook Air should also be released at some point in the first half of the year. Then, in the back half, there are expectations for new Macs, iPhones, AirPods and Apple Watches. Apple will have several opportunities to test advertising on X with all these new products coming.
