The new phone costs $899 in Canada, which is much more expensive than the iPhone SE at launch

Apple randomly revealed a new iPhone earlier this week, the iPhone 16e. While many expected a successor to the iPhone SE, the company released a ‘part bin’ mash-up of several older iPhones instead. Since the handset isn’t a direct successor to the iPhone SE, it lacks the iconic Touch ID and adopts the iPhone 14’s notch and a more expensive price tag.

The new iPhone 16e costs $899 in Canada, which is much more expensive than the iPhone SE at launch. However, it also has other enhancements, such as the Super Retina XDR OLED display, Ceramic Shield glass, a 48-megapixel shooter, and an A18 Bionic chipset allowing the device to access Apple Intelligence. It also has the Action button, which can be customized to perform several activities and IP68 water and dust protection.
