How did Janet Chepng’eno gain online attention?In 2021, Chepng’eno gained attention on social media after her inspiring yet painful story was shared by a well-wisher identified as Nominated Governor.

Despite scoring a B- in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), Janet had been stranded at home due to a lack of school fees.

Her mother had passed away when she was just four years old, and her father was partially mentally unstable.

As a result, Janet was forced to work as a house help to earn a living, putting her dreams of completing her education on hold.

Who helped KMTC Student?In a Facebook post, Nominated Governor called on well-wishers and netizens to financially support Chepng’eno so she could continue her studies.

Kenyans online responded generously, and a few well-wishers, including Kenda Kevin, Governor Hillary Barchok, Cornelius Sigei, Hellen Kiprotich, Kilel Stan, Richard Yegon, and Kipngetich Yegon, took personal initiatives to ensure the 31-year-old woman never missed school or essential provisions.

Kenda Vin, through his Facebook page, shared Chepng’eno’s journey from joining KMTC to her graduation.

He thanked all those who contributed to her education, stating that her success was the result of the unwavering support she had received from strangers online since 2021.

Source: FacebookHow did Janet Chepng’eno join KMTC?Kenda explained that after Nominated Governor reached out to him regarding the young woman’s story in April 2021, they made several applications for her to join KMTC.

She was initially selected for the college in Busia, but they managed to transfer her to the campus in Longisa to ease her survival while studying.

“After she settled to join Longisa KMTC, I organised an online fundraiser to cover her basic needs and bought all the necessary items to help her start life. Someone donated a bed and a table, another gave a 6kg gas cylinder, and I made sure she was as comfortable as possible,” Kenda said.He also shared that Janet’s school fees were fully paid by Barchok, who sponsored her entirely.

Her rent throughout the years was covered by Richard Yegon, who also provided her with a stipend for upkeep, allowing her to focus solely on her studies without financial worries.

Did Janet graduate from KMTC?As a fulfilment of the promise she made to the kind-hearted people who stepped into her life and changed it forever, Chepng’eno studied hard and made sure to make them proud.

On December 4, she was among the many KMTC graduates awarded their diplomas and certificates at the Moi Sports Centre in Kasarani.

“Clinical Medicine. I am so happy that her dream has come true today. CEC for Medical Services Joseph Sitonik and CO Fel Kip, this is your product, find her a place,” Kenda remarked.To celebrate her academic achievement, a Thanksgiving ceremony will be held at Chepng’eno’s home on December 12, where she will thank God for the wonderful journey.

God bless you all and stay safe,” he concluded.How did Nairobi woman celebrate her adopted son?In other news, TUKO.co.ke reported that a woman in Nairobi, Wanja Nyarari, was overwhelmed with joy after her adopted son graduated from KMTC.

She shared the story of how she adopted three orphans, began supporting them, and the challenges they faced together.

Wanja penned an emotional message to celebrate one of the boys’ graduation as a licensed clinician, expressing how proud he made her.
