TUKO.co.ke spoke to Eli Koech an elder from the Kalenjin community, who shared the significance of a cow in celebrations such as graduation.

He noted that cows symbolised growth, birth and longevity. According to Koech, gifting the student a cow meant that this family was wishing him all the best as he starts his life outside school.
