Ruben Amorim’s men are back on home turf, after Sunday’s excellent comeback victory at Crystal Palace, and looking to kick on with a busy December ahead.

Another five fixtures will follow before 2025 is out and, with things so tight in terms of the standings, it is a crucial period for the Reds, who currently sit seventh at the time of writing (ahead of matchweek 14).

Here is our comprehensive guide to the encounter…

TEAM NEWS

Matheus Cunha will hopefully be available again, following his two-game lay-off, while we also await updates on fellow absentees Harry Maguire and Benjamin Sesko.

Lisandro Martinez came off the bench at Palace, late on, to make his first appearance since February, while Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee promoted their claims with the goals at Selhurst Park.

Youngster Shea Lacey has been an unused substitute for the past two games as he gets closer to a first-team debut.

The visitors will be without influential midfielder Lucas Paqueta, after his dismissal for dissent during the 2-0 home reverse to Liverpool on Sunday.

Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has had a back problem and Oliver Scarles is absent due to a shoulder injury. However, Crysencio Summerville could return.

FORM GUIDE

It was a mixed November for Amorim’s side, with the win at Palace following two 2-2 draws on the road, and a surprise home reverse to 10-man Everton.

A return to the Theatre of Dreams presents a great opportunity to put the Toffees clash firmly behind us, as it was also the first time we drew a blank in front of goal since the Manchester derby in mid-September.

Nuno Espirito Santo has made a positive impact at West Ham, after replacing Graham Potter at the helm.

The Hammers secured back-to-back home wins against Newcastle United and Burnley and then drew 2-2 at Bournemouth, after surrendering a two-goal lead.

Hence, the 2-0 loss to Liverpool ended a good run of form, which had also yielded an impressive eight goals in those three fixtures.

DID YOU KNOW?

United have an enviable record when it comes to midweek league matches of late.

Opta have disclosed that the Reds are unbeaten in our last 17 top-flight outings played on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, winning the last eight in a row.

The last time we were beaten was in the loss to Liverpool in May 2021.

However, West Ham have only lost two of their 13 Premier League fixtures staged on a Thursday.
