Fido still has its bonus data for now

Lunar New Year mobile plan deals have ended at several Canadian wireless providers, including Freedom Mobile, Telus, and flanker brands like Koodo. However, the last reaminging deal is at the Rogers-owned Fido which hasn’t removed its bonus data yet.
Most providers were offering either bonus data on existing plans or special Lunar New Year plans. Here’s a list of what’s been removed.
Freedom Mobile removed the 8GB of bonus data it offered on several plans. Notably, Freedom recently reworked its suite of plans while offering the data bonus — you can learn more about that here — and now offers $39/60GB, $49/80GB and $59/100GB plans with 5G+ data and Canada/U.S./Mexico usage.
It’s also worth noting here that Freedom’s plans, even without the bonus data, offer some of the best value on the market right now with considerable savings and benefits compared to other providers.
Telus offered an $88/mo Lunar New Year plan with 188GB of 5G+ data (speeds capped at up to 2Gbps) and Canada/U.S./Mexico usage. While the $88 plan is no longer available, Telus hasn’t changed its other plans. That means it offers a $95/200GB Canada/U.S./Mexico plan ($90 if you bring your own phone [BYOP]) and an $85/150GB Canada/U.S. plan ($80 if you BYOP). Those are both similar to the Lunar New Year deal, though not quite as good.
While Bell didn’t explicitly offer a Lunar New Year deal, it did match Telus’ $88/188GB plan. Bell has now replaced that offer with what it had before, a $95/200GB plan. The plan includes data at Bell’s fastest available 5G+ speed, though the company does cap video streaming quality to 1080p. Additionally, the plan includes Canada/U.S./Mexico usage and 1,000 international minutes.
Finally, we have the Big Three’s flanker brands, Telus’ Koodo and Bell’s Virgin Plus. I’m grouping these two together because they offer the same plans and have very similar Lunar New Year deals.
Like Freedom, Koodo and Virgin offered 8GB of bonus data on select plans. Notably, they both raised plan prices during the Lunar New Year deal window and, at one point, removed and then brought back the bonus data.
They’re back to offering $45/50GB 4G and $50/75GB 4G Canada-wide plans now. You can find Koodo’s plans here and Virgin’s plans here.
