What did Oscar Sudi say about Rutoās impeachment?Speaking on Tuesday, February 4, the MP said Ruto would be impeached if he began dividing Kenyans along ethnic lines.
He said the country did not come to a standstill when former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua was removed, and the same would happen if Ruto were ousted.
āDid the country stop moving when Gachagua was removed? And will the country stop if we decide to remove William Ruto from office?ā Sudi questioned.āWe can also impeach William Ruto if he starts being tribal,ā he affirmed. He said impeachment does not indicate hatred but rather that the individual is unfit for the office they were elected to.
Sudi argued that Kenyans would eventually understand why Gachagua had to be removed from office.
He claimed Gachagua was removed from office for allegedly inciting Kenyans and promoting divisive politics.
āOne day, you will understand that it was a must for him to go home. We cannot have one person incite all Kenyans. We cannot have someone who does not want to build anything,ā Sudi said.Sudi added that he is confident he has achieved more than Gachagua in terms of service delivery during his two years in office.
āDo you want me to tell you the truth? Gachagua has been in office for two years and I have been in office for two years. Let him bring his record showing what he has done for two years. I have done way much more than him. I want you to understand that when someone is removed from office, it doesnāt mean that we hate them. Sometimes if someone is wrong for the job, we tell them,ā Sudi said.

Why was it impossible to impeach William Ruto alongside Gachagua? At the height of Gachaguaās impeachment process, some Kenyans argued that since he and Ruto were elected as a pair, both should leave office.
In response, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa addressed the issue, explaining why Ruto and his former deputy, Gachagua, could not be impeached at the same time.
He argued that it was impossible, noting that even in counties where governors and their deputies are elected together, impeachment motions are typically filed against only one.
Barasa said this practice ensures the county retains a leader even if one is impeached, and the same principle applies to the country.
Constitutional lawyer Bobby Mkangi said that although the two were elected together, each should be evaluated individually based on their performance.
