Rogers has started airing a new ad campaign featuring Canadian star Keanu Reeves for its new Xfinity TV and internet tech.
The three ads, comprised of one longer ad and two shorter versions that pull from the first and second half of the longer ad, are on the telecom’s YouTube channel. They can also be seen on national TV and other advertising channels, including TikTok.
The ads are from the marketing agency Publicis Toronto and showcase Reeves bouncing around a house doing various tasks over the internet. Most of these seem to be various video chats, but at the end of the ad, he does some online gaming as well. Overall, it’s pretty standard for a telecom ad, and sadly, the fact that it’s Reeves adds little to the advertisement’s charm.
Rogers is pushing Xfinity now after signing a deal with U.S.-based Comcast in early 2024 to use the American provider’s hardware in Canada. Then, throughout 2024, the company rebranded its internet and TV offerings as Rogers Xfinity, so I’d expect the company to push hard in 2025 to make sure lots of Canadians are aware of the new tech.
