According to his family, Maritim was going for a morning run at 6 a.m. in a grey jacket, the same-colored sneakers, and bluish track trousers.
“He is in his mid-40s and has an athletic build. He left his phone at home, and there has been no contact since his disappearance,” said the family. “He went for his routine morning run and never returned; we are extremely worried. Please help us find him,” they said at the time. Maritim is among those who had thrown their hats into the ring for the Tinderet MP seat in the upcoming 2027 General Election, and some of his supporters took to the streets when they learnt that he had been missing.
MP Julius Melly reacted to the disappearance of the politician days after he went missing and urged government action.
A section of Kenyans expressed mixed reactions as protests rocked the town, while some expressed hope that he would be found.
“Sure, he is of sound mind; he was found dumped in Uganda. He reported to one of the police stations and made a call to his brother,” said his family.Shadrack Maritim, who was found in Uganda. Photo: Shadrack Maritim.
